Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks Owner: Wealthy Should ‘Pay Lots Of Taxes’ I normally find Mark Cuban to be a brash, egotistical crazy person. But this made a ton of sense to me. (via adventuresinlearning) |
I met with a group of people from a church tonight. These are good hard working people that have lived in a very small town their whole lives. They are older and somewhat conservative. The church is grappling with homosexuality and Christianity and if they should discuss it with the whole congregation. Someone wanted a vote—I am still confused about what their vote would accomplish. The question apparently is “who believes that homosexuality is wrong?” The most upsetting part of the discussion was when a church leader (not a pastor) claimed that the LBGT population “recruits” others to join them because “they have such a small population, they have to recruit.” I wanted to scream, “Did you just say that?” I am saddened by this exchange. There were people sitting in that room that have gay children. I walked out of the room with a very heavy heart. I can’t get “I pity his ignorance and despise him” quote by Dickens out of my head. What a very sad day!
To kick off my posts on spiritual technology, I will begin with the very first meditation technique that was effectively taught to me. Since it got me to where I am now, I can sincerely vouch for its effectiveness.
This technique was called nath sitting, though it could be called anything. You…

I find myself missing Wisconsin when I travel. It has always been my home. The natural beauty of the state is a bit overwhelming—-there are so many beautiful areas. I enjoy the lakes, rivers, farmlands, forests, etc. Oh, and the people are nice. I mean super nice with smiles and a weird Fargoesque accent. You know you are in Wisconsin when you hear someone say “oh yaaw”.
Some things that bother me are the unreal obsessions with cheese and beer. I can state for a fact that my husband has 5 different kinds of cheese in our refridgerator right now. Who needs that much cheese? The beer situation is getting out of hand with every yahoo (Wisconsin term for the average guy) with a garage and a dream making beer. I am in awe of the local breweries—-there are so many. I don’t see the need, but I am not a good Wisconsinite I suppose.
Another is the hunting. They hunt everything here. My father is an avid hunter, I grew up around bright orange and camoflauge—-yuck! I was forced to take hunters safety at 12 years old so that we could have an extra deer tag in November. Thanksgiving dinner was not served until all of the hunters came back from the woods. My entire childhood I waited for a Rockwell-like thanksgiving dinner but it never came. Boo hoo, right?
Let me know what you love about Wisconsin!
